VFW Goes Racing!
VFW post 9143 in Cumming, Georgia would like to extend an invitation to all the posts of Georgia's VFW and all our friends to join in the excitement of Nascar racing at
Lanier National Speedway
in Braselton, Georgia. All members, Ladies Auxiliary, friends, and family are invited to come out Saturday, August
11, 2007. The rain date has not yet been determined. Stay tuned for
updates. VFW Post 9143 sponsors NASCAR Weekly Truck Series driver Joel Townsend. Come out to meet him. Joel is a veteran racer, named rookie of the year in 2003. Come enjoy a
catered dinner with your Comrades and cheer Joel to victory.
Bring your camera and a folding chair. It will be easy to find us. We will be in
the large party room above the concession stands along the front straight away,
with banners and flags proudly displayed. We will have a great viewing position
overlooking the start / finish line. We will get the VIP treatment. VFW members in uniform will fall in during the National Anthem, and the race announcer will recognized us all over the track loudspeakers. We can give the invocation, lead the National Anthem, and present our color guard. Our Commander will give the call: "Drivers, Start Your Engines!"
Track entrance is $10 per adult and parking will be free. We encourage you to car pool. Kids under twelve tickets can be bought at the track for $3. Gates open at 5:pm. Also, see our photos page for more details and pictures from trackside.
